About Pathways to Entrepreneurial Success

Genesis

Pathways to Entrepreneurial Success was the brainchild of Jeffrey Shepard, Bob Spinelli, and Sherry Tshibangu -- experienced entrepreneurs and college educators who observed that Rochester's displaced workers and many of their students were:

  • curious about starting a business
  • concerned about the continued success of their parents' businesses
  • considering new business opportunities outside of Rochester and western New York

Recognizing that exceptional educational programs, business development resources and support services already existed in our region, the three founders established a common ground for these organizations to collaborate, communicate and support the success aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners. By centralizing our region's resources under one roof, for one day at the Pathways to Entrepreneurial Success community forum, the spirit of entrepreneurship and economic development in western New York will be strengthened and energized.

Vision

On an annual basis, Pathways to Entrepreneurial Success encourages regional representatives to communicate, share information about their unique programs, and connect entrepreneurs with:

  • available resources to help start or grow a business -- information and support offered by government and business development agencies
  • higher education -- established programs designed to prepare students from all walks of life for professional success
  • other business owners and mentors -- opportunities to network and be inspired by those who have taken a good idea and turned it into a successful business enterprise
  • the desire to start their for-profit or not-for-profit ventures in western New York!
